After the founding of New China,Britain declared to admit the independence. Then,as a breakthrough to promote bilateral diplomatic relations,British helped New China go into the United Nations and attempted to influence American attitudes. The democratic socialism concept of the ruling party, the cognition to China's revolution and the future, and the negative influence of U.S.policy toward China made British government seek to pursue an independent policy toward China. With the escalation of the Cold War and the Outbreak of Korean War,the issue of the United Nations seat became complicated.U.S.increasing uncompromising attitude and UK's dependence on U.S.at Western European defense affairs made Britain yield to the pressure from U.S.against its will. But to certain extent Britain was still one of the potential powers of breaking the Cold War camp.
