Abstract: The stone beasts set (tomb figure) at Sanchengxiang I in Yunyang, Danyang of Zhenjiang,is the item of the Southern Dynasties available today that has received the most controversies. A number of different ancient emperors including Liangwen, Qiwu, Liangjianwen, Qiming, Qixuan and Liangjing have been argued to be the owner of this tomb. According to historical documents and the cemetery layout, it is believed that both Sanchengxiang Ⅰ and Ⅱ are parts of the mausoleum of Jianning of the Liang Dynasty. Sanchengxiang I stone beasts and the tomb are more likely to belong to Xiao Dao-ci and his wife, grandparents of Emperor Liangwudi (Xiao Yan). The tomb is of a typical Liang style and the stone figures are similar to those at sites of Sangchengxiang IV, Lingkou (Danyang) and Shizichong (Nanjing). The tomb is believed to have been constructed on 546 AD.
