摘　　要：作为外交实录,薛福成《出使日记》乃有意立言之作。其翔实的西洋新知,应时之需,不仅扩大了晚清国人的文化视野,更有益于士林思想风尚的转换。而其自备一格的无意为文,乃古文之变风变雅,在延伸桐城古文清通之实用性的同时,由文道之变,更昭显了晚清古文的新变。As a diplomatic record, Xue Fucheng＇ s Ambassador Diary was written intentionally to expound his ideas. The detailed new knowledge about the West and the current need not only expanded the cultural horizon of the people, but also contributed to the conversion of the trend of scholastic thinking in the late Qing Dynasty. With its own style of free writing, it became a fine example to illustrate the change of prose writing. While extending the practicality of the prose writing in the style of the Tongcheng School for its clearness and smoothness, its change in form and content displays the new change of prose writing in the late Qing Dynasty.
