摘　　要：The impact of localism on politics and social development of the Republic of China was reflected in the following aspects. It existed side by side with the warlord politics. It functioned as a basis of faction politics. It brought about both harmful and beneficial effects on democratic politics. It appeared to be for and against nationalism, and served at times as obstacles or stimulus to modernization of the society intermittently. On the whole, it had more negative effects than positive ones.The impact of localism on politics and social development of the Republic of China was reflected in the following aspects.
