摘　　要：近代湖南绅士作为传统文化的传承者,对儒家文化怀有特殊的感情,加之湘军镇压太平天国的成功,更加助长了他们护圣卫道的文化意识,他们痛恨洋教士对中国文化的征服政策,痛恨洋人的侵略和掠夺。他们以谣言唤起人们的仇教激情,以书文揭帖作为反教的宣传工具,广泛动员了湖南的社会力量,开展了连绵不断的反洋教运动。As the traditional Confucian cultural heritage the Hunan gentlemen were of deep feeligs of Confucian culture.The Xiang Army achieved victory in crackdown the Taiping rebels and enhance the gentlemens cultual consciousness to defend the Confucian culture and they hated the foreign missionaries who tried their best to supress the traditional culture.They aroused the people who were of emotion fighting against foreign missionary.The gentlemen continued their fighting against foreign missionary movement by means of posters and social forces.
