摘　　要：目前,我国已经构建大量不同级别、面向不同应用的地名词典,网络大众化地名服务成为地名词典的必然发展趋势。该文提出一种基于XML Schema的多源异构地名词典集成方法,以XML Schema对地名词典进行数据描述,采用XSLT数据转换方法,运用MapForce软件,快速进行地名词典的数据结构映射,能够有效解决地名词典的跨平台及数据类型不统一问题。Digital gazetteers,as special geographical information systems,aim to bridge the gap between textural description and geometric representation of geographical references.They provide information on named features,linking the feature′s name with its location and its type,and have been growing in importance recently as the basis of a range of services,including wayfinding,georeferencing,geographical information retrieval,natural language processing and digital cities.A big problem for Chinese gazetteers is the lack of unified naming standards.Furthermore,Chinese place names change in complicated spatio-temporal dimensions because of such reasons as culture,politic and history.Since 2003 a number of Chinese digital gazetteers have been developing for different applications.It is necessary to explore public services of place names on Internet based on large-scale Chinese digital gazetteers with high quality.XML Schema offers a powerful set of tools for defining acceptable XML document structures and content,while XSLT is a language for transforming XML documents into other XML documents.In this paper,XML Schema is used to describe the elements of gazetteers,in order that the data in gazetteers are represented in XML documents;and then XSLT transforms the XML data of different gazetteers with Map Force software.The experiments show that the proposed approach implements the integration of heterogeneous gazetteers effectively and efficiently.This approach focuses on the treatment of heterogeneous data structure of gazetteers,without considering the difference of spatio-temporal semantics of place names in different gazetteers if place names are described in different map scale or different times.Therefore,its performance greatly depends on the rules in the transformation procedure with XSLT to guide the data integration.
