摘　　要：对现代通俗小说"存真"或"补史"价值的论述,涉及到的是小说和现实的关系问题,这一问题用"现实主义"的理论话语来表述并不合适,其中牵涉到从社会历史到小说,从小说到社会历史的互动互生关联。作为社会历史构成基础的日常生活或者衣食住行也是现代通俗小说的常规叙事内容。无论是引领时尚的衣饰变迁,还是西餐中国化的饮食爱好;无论是石库门亭子间的生活情态,还是汽车火车的旖旎风光,这些既使现代生活呈现出万千气象,也促成了通俗小说对社会现实的生动考量。The dissertation about modern popular fiction＇s value on keeping true and making history is related to the relationship between fiction and reality.It is not suitable to explain this problem with ＂realism＂.It involves how social history enters into fiction and how fiction creates social history.As social history＇s foundation,basic necessities are also the conventional contents in modern popular fiction.No matter how clothing leads the fashion,no matter how western food is changed in China,no matter how pepole live in garret,and no matter how scenery car and train show,these all make modern life become meteorology and cause modern popular fiction to measure social reality.
