摘　　要：本杰明·布里顿的《阿尔贝·埃林》不像《托斯卡》、《弄臣》、《波希米亚人》等,属于被广泛认可的经典歌剧范畴。但有一点要注意的是：这部晚期浪漫主义风格的歌剧尽管并不是特别出名,但它和那些著名歌剧同样带来了巨大而深刻的影响。洛杉矶歌剧院的《阿尔贝·埃林》真的是不容错过——拥有出色的室内乐队,故事也不再拘泥于腐朽的国王、王冠和至死不渝的爱情等老套路,而是更贴近我们当下的摩登生活。这是什么意思呢？没有那些繁文缛节,没有绞刑架,没有个人英雄主义。然而最重要的是,这部歌剧意味着英国作曲家的音乐真的感人至深,尽管加起来才用了13件乐器,但音乐真的光彩夺目,而且非常聪明、Los Angeles Opera's Albert Herring should not be missed.And,yes,it's a wonderfully wry little chamber piece that dwells in the existential concerns of a modern clay closer to our own than that of kings and crowns and love-to-the-death.So what does that mean? Well,no grand flourishes, for starters,no march to the gallows,no frail heroines dying of consumption.Hut most importantly,it means that the British composer's score emanating from the pitjust 13 instrumentalists in all—is brilliant music that cleverly and feelingly tells the story. It's music that is the connective tissue for all competing emotions,music that catches you in its grip.
