Based on the water and electricity similarity principle,a series of electric analogy experiments were designed for the horizontal wells and multi-lateral wells by using high precision measuring instruments. The well models with resistance proved that the frictional pressure drop due to fluid flowing in the wellbore caused the productivity decrease. Then the effect of number and angle of branches, boundary conditions and perforated degree of completion segment on productivity was studied, and the contribution of each branch of the multi-lateral horizontal well to oil production was quantified and the equal pressure contour distribution rules of the multi-lateral well was described. The results show that the productivity increases with the increase of number and angle of branches, but the increasing trend slows down. There exists interference between branch holes and main holes and the lateral branches. The size of supply boundary and the relative position of oil wells have obviously effect upon the oil production. When the completion segment is not fully perforated, the optimal distribution mode of the completion segments can be obtained. The experimental result provides the basis for productivity calculation and morphology optimization of horizontal wells and multi-lateral wells.
