Objective: To analyze the ultrasonography and computedtomography(CT) imaging characteristics of Cystic echinococcosis and their combination value in therapy,so as to reduce misdiagnosis rate of Cystic echinococcosis. Methods: 22 patients with Cystic echinococcosis and 25 patients with liver simple cyst were performed CT and ultrasonography between January 2008 and September 2010 in our hospital. The ultrasonography and CT scan findings were retrospectively analyzed and compared. Results: 36 focuses were detected out by CT and 34 focuses were detected out by ultrasonography. There were no difference in distribution and shape of focus between liver echinococcosis and simple cysts group.Ultrasonography detection showed that 22 cases appeared layering and movable echogenic hydatid sand, visible in the deep part of the cyst that moved along with patients' changing position,3 cases had focal or segmental wall thickening, and 2 cases had cholangiectasis around the focus.CT imaging showed calcification of the pericyst in 5 cases, and cholangiectasis around the focus in 3 cases. Conclusion: Combination use of ultrasonography and computedtomography(CT) can increase diagnosis rate of liver echinococcosis in stage CEI or CL.
