Objective To investigate whether vitamin D receptor(VDR) gene FokⅠ polymorphism is associated with diabetic nephropathy(DN) in Mongolian and Han population in Inner Mongolia region. Methods A total of 287 patients,117 Mongolian and 170 Han admitted in nephrology department and endocrinology department of Inner Mongolia Medical College Affiliated Hospital from June 2008 to August 2010 of department were included.1 mL of venous blood was collected respectively, using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) analysis method was used for the determination of vitamin D receptor FokⅠ gene polymorphism allele frequency and genotype frequency. Results The genotype frequencies for FF,ff and Ff were 37.8%,22.2% and 40% in the Mongolian DN group;and 55.1%,9% and 35.9% respectively in the Mongolian normal control group. Conclusion ①This study showed that VDR gene FokⅠ polymorphism is associated with diabetic nephropathy of Mongolian population and Han populationin Inner Mongolia area.②The F allele may be the predisposing factor of diabetic nephropathy of Mongolian population in Inner Mongolia area.
