摘　　要：After the meeting with Administrator Chen Gang, James E. Matthews Ⅲ kindly accepted the invitation for an interview. Editor in Chief of China Standardization, Liu Zhiyang, conducted the interview. During the interview, Mr. Matthews answered all the questions Ms Liu asked; he introduced the working focus of IEC/SMB in the coming years, shared a lot of working experiences about the international standardization, and gave valuable advices for how China better participates in intemational standardization activities. In addition, he expressed opinions about the standardization of alternative fuel vehicles. At last, Ms. Liu thanked Mr. Matthews for the interview and invited him to write a short message for our magazine,
