摘　　要："人民圣殿教"是由美国人吉姆·琼斯在20世纪中期创建的一个邪教组织,他利用民众的宗教热情从事不法活动,最终以"琼斯镇"悲剧收场。着重从20世纪的社会历史背景出发来探讨"琼斯镇"悲剧发生的原因。主要通过对美国的种族问题、美国的选举制度、20世纪资本主义与社会主义两种社会制度在世界范围的较量等几个方面加以论述。The People＇ s Temple was a wicked religious organization founded by Jim Jones, which committed many illegal activities, taking advantage of the public passion on religion.
