摘　　要：美国大学和研究图书馆协会历史悠久、组织结构庞大复杂。协会章程和相关指南分别总体描述和详细规定了协会运作。美国大学和研究图书馆协会注重会员的积极参与,既为会员服务搭建各类交流平台,也颁布各种标准和指南,引领大学图书馆的发展。中美大学图书馆行业协会之间的差别不仅在于繁简,更在于不同的取向。The Association of College and Research Libraries is a large organization with a long history and a complicated complex. ACRL Bylaws is a general description while ACRL＇s Guide to Policies and Procedures includes detailed stipulations for the organization. ACRL pays much attention to the members＇ participation, serving as a platform for members＇ communication. ACRL is also a leader in the development of academic libraries by issuing varieties of standards and guidelines. The most notable difference between ACRL and the Chinese parity is not a question of complexity or simplicity but a variety of value orientations.
