摘　　要：在东方主义视角中,美国主流社会中的华人是一种刻板的形象,素以"自我"自称的西方,通过文学创作、学术研究实现了对东方的重构。因此,华人被刻板化为异己的"他者"形象———"粗野的群体和阴险恶棍"、不可同化的异族和白人的奴仆,成为人为建构的"他者",被规定为西方文化的附属物。From the angle of Orientalism, the paper analyzes the image of the stereotyped Chinese American portrayed in western literary works, where the westerners regard themselves as ＂the self＂ while reconstruct the easterners as ＂the other＂, and take them as a stereotyped class of inelegant and catty villians, who cannot be assimilated but work as servants for the white people. The paper holds that ＂ the other＂ image of the easterners is deliberately designed by the westeners and regulated as the appendage of the western culture.
