摘　　要：城市的发展在很大程度上依赖于基础设施,交通运输就是其中一个相当重要的因素。近代芜湖开埠后,皖江航运开始走向近代化。皖江航运的发展改变了传统沿江城市的落后水平和分散状态,推动了皖江城市带的形成与发展。The urban development largely depends on the infrastructure, while communications and transpor- tation are one of the most important elements. After Wuhu became a trading port at modem times, Wanjiang ship- ping started to head for modernization. The development of Wanjiang shipping changed the backward level and the dispersity of the traditional cities along the fiver and promoted the formation and development of Wanjiang city belt
