Objective To observe the pathological changes of fat in pigs irradiated by non-invasive focused ultrasound in different doses. Methods A non-invasive focused ultrasound with a frequency of 1.9MHz was used in this experiment to six pigs. The back skin in each pig was irradiated with different power at 0W,450W,550W,660W and 1,2,3times,which produced 9 different lesioning data groups and 1 normal control group. After radiations the full- thickness skin and muscle specimens were immediately cut off and the pathological sections were made. Results A large number of damage foci of fat cells can be seen in all experimental groups under the microscope. The stove cell were in the number of 1-5 in low output power groups, in the number of 2~10 in medium and in the number of 15~40 in high. The damaged fat cells in the center of foci were disappeared, and the edge were broken. The small blood vessel were intact, and there were no red blood cells seen in the foci. There were no the carbonized, coagulated tissues in the experimental areas. Conclusion Non-intrusive focused ultrasound with a frequency of 1.9MHz can be selected to destroy fat cells. There were positive relationship between the degrees of damage with output power and treatmental times. It is security with the skin, small blood vesse and fascia.
