According to the Weishu (the Book of Wei) of the Sanguo Zhi (the Records of the Three-Kingdoms), Emperor Ming of Wei died on the first day of the first moon of the third year of Jingchu Era (239 AD) ; when the young emperor succeeded, the“third year of Jingchu Era” was not changed in that lunar year but at the beginning of the next year, the era name was changed as Zhengshi (the first year of Zhengshi Era was 240 AD) . This changing followed the rules in the dynastic politics of ancient China. Undoubtedly, the so-called “the fourth year of Jingchu Era” did not exist in the history at all. As for the entry with “the fourth year (of Jingchu Era)” recorded in Tianwen Zhi (the Treatises on Astronomy) of Jinshu (the Book of Jin), it was the mistake of the editors and could not be used as an evidence. The tri- angular-rimmed bronze mirrors with the date of “the fourth year of Jingchu Era” and coiled dragon design unearthed in Japan were made locally by the immigrated Chinese craftsmen who could not know the new era in time, so they used this expired era name in the inscription of their products.
