摘　　要：E.M.福斯特在《印度之行》中,从多重交织的文化身份出发,以超越民族、文化和宗教界线的广阔视野,观察了大英帝国在印度各个层面的运作情况,并对之作出独特的描述、深刻的反思和睿智的评论。小说通过空间的转移和人物心理的变化,探讨了阻碍人类团结的人为因素和神秘的宇宙力量的交互作用,并对实现全人类和谐共存的理想的可能性作出了预言式的回答。在当下全球跨文化交往的时代,这部小说依然有着深刻的启示意义。In Passage to Indian, E.M. Foster, in perspectives of multicuhural identity and a point of view beyond national, cultural and religious boundaries, observes and makes a unique description of the operation of the British Empire in India. Through the transfer of space and the psychological changes of characters, the novel discusses the interaction of human factors and the mysterious cosmic forces which block the human unity, and gives a prophetic answer to the possibility of realizing the ideal of harmonious coexistence of all mankind. In the present era of global cross-cultural communication, the novel still has a profound and revelatory significance.
