摘　　要：马克思主义唯物辩证法是认识事物本质的一般科学方法,而列宁晚年针对应将玻璃杯(实际喻指的是工会)看作是什么的论述过程,则是利用唯物辩证法认识事物本质的经典范例。在对这一范例进行深入解析的基础上,结合我国图书馆本质研究中存在的问题,探讨了正确认识图书馆本质的一般方法论原则,即全面性、发展性、实践性和具体性原则。Materialistic dialectics of Marxism is a generally scientific methodology of research into the essence of things, and the discussion on ＂what glass cup is＂ （ in fact, the glass cup is used as a metaphor to refer to labor union） by Lenin at his old age is a perfect example. According to the existing problems of method using in library essence research in China, the author discusses the general principles of methodology in library essence research based on this example.
