Spatial variability of soil trace elements in typical gentle slope tobacco field was analyzed by geostatistics method with Geographic Information System (GIS) platform. Spatial distribution of trace elements were built by ordinary Kriging - a linear unbiased interpolation method. Results showed that spatial variability of soil trace elements were all at moderate level in the whole region studied, and the sequence was in an order of Zn 〉 Mn 〉 Fe 〉 Cu. Fe and Zn were modeled best with exponential models, whereas Cu and Mn with spherical models. Cu and Zn were strongly dependent with nugget/still ratios at 20% and 23.7%, respectively; Fe and Mn were moderately dependent with nugget/still ratios at 28% and 43.5%, respectively. Further analysis showed that Cu was highly anisotropic while Mn was feebly aniso-tropic. The four elements in soil were low in north central region with deep slope, while high in northeast where the slope was relatively flat. Slope was important for spatial distribution of trace elements. It was suggested that effects of terrain factors on spatial variability of trace elements should be incorporated in accurate fertilizer decisions with mountain tobacco field.
