摘　　要：在《苏菲的选择》中,斯泰伦通过人物塑造和情节安排对纳粹大屠杀历史事件进行了诠释,指出大屠杀不仅是民族灾难,还是一场人类悲剧。大屠杀是由现代社会官僚体系以及现代文明其他固有问题共谋的结果。而导致大屠杀的环境和条件没有根本性改变,因此,大屠杀式的悲剧有再次发生的危险。作家以此向世人提出了警示,表现出对人类生存状态的无限担忧和深切关怀。In Sophie＇s Choice, through the characterization and emplotment, William Styron presents an interpretation of the Holocaust. He points out that the Holocaust is not just a national disaster of Jews, but rather a tragedy of humankind. It is attributable to the ＂collusion of the problems immanent in modern civilization. And yet the environments conducive to the Holocaust still exist, so Styron warns people of the possibility for the disaster to recur, manifesting his deep concern over the living conditions of mankind.
