A Retrospect of Guangdong Archaeology in the Last Century

摘　　要：近代的广东得'风气之先',我国最早的国家考古研究机构——中央研究院历史语言研究所于1928年3月在广州筹备并成立,内设考古学组。1931年,广州成立了黄花考古学院,1932年1月出版了《考古学杂志》的创刊号。The present paper makes a brief retrospect of the course of Guangdong archaeology during the past century. Beginning in the 1920s, it was developed from separate reconnaissances at the initial stage to the general surveys carried out twice across the whole province in the 1950s and 1980s, and from scattered diggings to planned large-scale excavations under academic subjects and in concert with capital constructions. The remarkable achievements constitute an important contribution to the compre- hensive study of the chronology of archaeological cultures in Guangdong and the reconstruction of the province's history, especially that in pre-Qin times without literary records. Paying attention mainly to new attainments, the author gives a rather detailed account of the advance of scientific researches in last decades, providing a window of unstanding archaeological work in the Guangdong region.
