摘  要:20世纪上半期,中国留美学生在中外跨文化交流中扮演着重要角色,在引进吸收西学的同时,也为对外传播中国文化做了许多具体而有益的工作,传播形式灵活多样,传播内容丰富多彩,由衣食住行的器物层面逐步深入到文化的精神层面,对外彰显的中国标志、中国元素更加丰富,为打破中美文化的隔膜、促进中国文化走向世界做出不懈努力。其对外传播中国文化的工作,已构成20世纪上半期中外跨文化交流中一个值得注意的文化现象,说明即使在国势积贫积弱、文化交流有逆差的背景下,中国文化也没有中断走向世界的步伐、而且在充分吸收西方先进文化后生命力更加旺盛了。这一现象的出现,既是20世纪上半期留美教育大发展的产物,也体现了留美生的文化自觉、文化责任及对外传播中国文化的独特优势条件。The Chinese students studying in America played an important role in cultural exchanges during the first half of the 20th century, who not only introduced Western culture to China, but also made quantities of specific contributions to the external dissemination of Chinese culture. They introduced Chinese culture from the material aspects of basic necessities to spiritual connotations, which showed distinctive Chinese characteristics and rich Chinese dements. Because they wanted to break the gap between the Chinese and the American culture, they made tireless efforts to promote Chinese culture to the world. The work of external dissemination of Chinese culture is a cultural phenomenon worthy of attention in cultural ex- changes during the first half of the 20th century. Since China was in the background of poor, weak and the cultural deficit, it described Chinese culture not only did not stop the pace of the world, but also took a more vigorous development with fully absorbing in the advanced western culture. This phenomenon is the product of great development of Chinese students ~ education in America. It reflected the cultural consciousness and cultural responsibility of Chinese students studying in A- merica who had unique advantages of the external dissemination of Chinese culture.
