EFFECTS OF EXOGENOUS MELATONIN ON THE ADAPTIVE THERMOGENESIS IN TREE SHREWS (TUPAIA BELANGERI)

摘  要:注射外源性褪黑激素后 ,中缅树体温明显降低 ,静止代谢率和非颤抖性产热显著增加 ,并随注射时间的延长增加的越多。注射褪黑激素不影响肝脏和褐色脂肪组织的重量 ,但两者线粒体蛋白含量显著增加、线粒体呼吸和细胞色素C氧化酶活性增加 ;褐色脂肪组织的α 磷酸甘油氧化酶和T4 5′ 脱碘酶活性显著增强 ;血清T3 浓度显著上升 ,T4 浓度显著降低。结果表明 。By regulating the hormone of pineal, photoperiods affect many physiological characteristics in small mammals. Thus, melatonin might take part in the thermoregulation of seasonal variations in small mammals. In order to understand the seasonal thermogenic pattern, we measured the thermogenic activities of Tree shrews after injecting melatonin (MLT) of 20μg/kg.day for 21 days. The results indicated that the changes of body mass were not significant, but the body temperature was reduced evidently and RMR and NST increased observably at 21 days after injecting. The oxidative capacities of mitochondria in liver and BAT were enhanced, and the contents of total and mitochodrial protein increased markedly. Twenty one days after injecting, the state Ⅳ and Ⅲ respiration of liver mitochondria increased 23 3% and 35 0%, and the activity of cytochrome C oxidase in liver increased 60 8%; The change of activity of α glerocephasphate oxidase was not obvious. In the mean time, the state Ⅳ respiration and the activities of cytochrome C oxidase and α\|glycerophasphate oxidase in BAT increased 30, 70 and 24%, respectively. The activity of thyroxin 5′ deiodinase in BAT increased remarkably. The serum concentration of T\-4 decreased, and that of T 3 increased evidently. Our results suggested that the melatonin participates in the regulation of the adaptive thermogenic capacity in different photoperiods in Tree shrews.
