摘　　要：在西方政治思想史上,"共和"概念占有重要地位。共和的最初含义,从制度形态上讲,是混合政体形式的一种代表;从政治内涵上讲,则是公民积极参与政治事务、捍卫公共利益的政治模式的一种代表。在古希腊时期,民主政体是共和政体的变态,二者之间存有明显不同。发展至近代,随着世袭君主制的逐渐废除和人民主权原则的确立,共和国与民主制日益紧密联系在一起。民主共和国亦随之成为政治文明和进步的代名词。时至今日,共和一词更是代表了一种强调平等、政治民主、政治参与和公共精神的政治模式。＂ Republic＂ occupies an important position in the history of Western politics and thoughts, whose initial meaning is a political system. In the view of politics, it＇ s a political mode in which people take an active part in the political affairs and protect the political benefits. In the period of ancient Greece, democratically political system comes from the republic political system. In modern times, demo- cratic republic has become a pronoun of political civilization. Now, republic stresses equality, political democracy, political participation and political mode of public spirit.
