摘　　要：香农编码理论揭示了在通信系统中,采用适当的编码后能够实现高效率和高可靠地传输信息的规律,并给出了相应的信源编码定理和信道编码定理。讨论了香农第一编码定理(变长无失真信源编码定理)的实质,提出了信源符号利用率的概念,并应用此概念对香农第一编码定理重新给出了描述,从一个新的角度指出了香农第一编码定理的实质。Shannon code theories reveal the laws exiting in the communication system that by using approximate coding method information can be translated in a high reliable and efficient way. This paper analyzes the essence of Shannon first coding theory （the variable length and lossless source coding theorem）, and put forward the concept of utilization rate of source sym- bols. Then based on this concept, a new description for Shannon first coding theory is given, and the essence of Shannon first coding theory is identified from a new perspective.
