摘 要:嘉道时期桐城派盛极一时,表现出许多新的传衍特征:一是传衍态势由单线承传到多线辐射;二是传衍范围由固守一隅到遍布南北;三是传衍方式由私人授徒到以书院讲学为主,家学传授、私人讲学、文人雅集、书信往还、游幕等方式为辅;四是传衍内容由只言片语到完备选本。诸种变化的产生,并非历史的偶然,而是桐城派发展的必然,无不蕴涵着深层的文化动因,这亦是其兴盛的重要原因。The Tongcheng School flourished during the reigns of Emperors Jiaqing and Daoguang, with many new features of spreading its learning. First, it adopted a radiation strategy instead of linear dissemina- tion. Second, it expanded its scope of influence throughout the Country. Third, the School took various meas- ures of passing on its learning. Forth, the content of teaching was also enriched with the use of complete course-books. All these changes occurred not by accident, hut as the result of historical and cultural factors that were conducive to the prosperity of the School.
