摘　　要：运用利奥塔及杰姆逊的后现代主义社会理论,对罗斯的最新作品《垂死的肉身》进行分析,尝试揭示出该作品中蕴含的后现代主义社会特点:知识以及知识分子的沦落以及沮丧与焦虑的盛行。作品人物均试图利用肉体放纵来消解精神危机,但他们并未丧失精神的固守,只是以他们的独特方式来表达他们的逃避、愤懑与批判。This paper, after a post-modernistic analysis of Philip Roth＇ s latest story The Dying Ani- mal, endeavors to expose in the novel some features of postmodemism： downgraded knowledge and in- tellectuals and pervasive depression and anxiety. Meanwhile this paper argues that physical indulgences of the characters function as a uniquely escaping, resenting and criticizing counteraction of spiritual col- lapse as a result of their spiritual unyielding.
