摘　　要：索尔·贝娄一直非常抗拒"美国犹太作家"的标签,但是他不仅从来没有否认自己的犹太身份,而且尽力描摹并解读美国犹太人的苦难及救赎。刘兮颖博士的新作《受难意识与犹太伦理取向:索尔·贝娄小说研究》是迄今国内第一部运用文学伦理学的批评方法,对贝娄的主要作品进行了深刻阐释的论著。作者认为由于对犹太人的"选民"身份、受难精神等犹太意识的不同伦理取向,导致小说主人公的命运大相径庭。该书以文学伦理学批评之维重释经典,具有很高的学术价值。Descending from Jewish stock, Saul Bellow refused to be labeled as Jewish American writer. However, he never denies his Jewish background. Instead, his novels depict their suffer- ing and redemption. On the Consciousness of Suffering and Jewish Ethical Orientation in Saul Bel- low＇ s Fiction lately written by Dr. I,iu Xiying from the prospective of ethical literary criticism car- ries out a systematic study of Bellow＇ s major fiction with a great power of concept. In the face of suffering, the American Jews make different choices towards the Jewish traditional ethics such as ＂the Elect＂ and suffering, and thus result in different fates. The book fully demonstrates the Dr. Liu＇s original academic talent and strong academic power.
