摘　　要：在海明威的短篇小说《白象似的群山》中,整体意象中的白象,一男一女的人物关系,通篇对话的形式,还包括文本中的一些细节描写,皆富有独特的象征意义,展现了海明威在西方文化影响下对人类社会的深刻思考和对人类深陷困境的悲观虚无思想。Unique symbolic meanings presented in the famous story Hills Like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway consist of the white elephant on the whole imagery,the character relationship between the man and the woman,and the form of conversation through the story.Besides,some details are also put into the color of symbolism.They revealed Hemingway＇s reflections on the human society and his pessimism and emptiness towards the embarrassment of human being under the influence of the western culture.
