摘　　要：斯摩莱特小说《亨弗雷·克林克》的艺术成就之一在其叙事上的创新。小说把人物设置与叙事策略衔接起来,使人物前所未有地具备了叙事功能。借助五位叙述人的梯度设置,无论叙事风格、主题还是节奏都呈现出主导性与多样性的兼顾。标题人物与隐性角色则引导叙事全面、有序地展开。两者互助的关系最终帮助小说实现了内容与形式的高度统一。One of the artistic achievements of Smollett＇s Humphry Clinker is its originality in narrative form. The novel establishes a link between characterization and narrative strategy and entitles the characters to different roles in the narrative. Thanks to the gradient design embodied in the five narrators, the author strikes a balance between variety and unity in the style,theme and rhythm of the novel＇s narrative. The titular and the implied characters function as bait to prompt the full and smooth development of the narrative. The mutual enrichment of character and narrative leads to the unity of form and content in the novel.
