[Objective]In this study, using specifically designed cages, the pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) and all-male tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) polyculture were studied to avoid competitive feeding in order to prevent dis- ease, increase production yield, and improve benefits. [Method]According to the differences in biological characteristics of pacific white shrimp and all-male tilapia and their baits' characters, tilapia bait feeding was temporally controlled by opening and closing of the water passages to avoid tilapia's excessive consumption of pacific white shrimp. The study was conducted in two 6.67 ha ponds by mixing 67.5x104 post-larvae/ha pacific shrimps and 6.0x107 fingerlings/ha all-male tilapias. The yield was determined by analyzing the cuhuring effects after 118 days. [Result]During the polyculturing process, no diseases were detected for pacific white shrimp and all-male tilapia under relative stable water quality. Af- ter 118 days, the yield of shrimp and tilapia averaged 6212.1 and 3522.7 kg/ha, respectively; the comprehensive ratio of input to output was 1:1.52 and the average benefit was 75985 Yuan/ha. [Conclusion]It is feasible to apply rrdxed culturing of pacific white shrimp and all-male tilapia in the same pond with the appropriate confinement methed.
