摘　　要：学习和借鉴西方史学的理论和方法并运用于中国历史的研究实践,是推动中国史学进步的重要手段,近年来最受国内史学界关注的当代西方史学趋势莫过于新文化史。但学界知之甚少的是,早在1988年,已故复旦大学教授、著名历史学家田汝康先生,就已在新文化史方法与中国史研究的结合上做出了重要的开拓性探索,而与国外史学前沿相一致。With the introducing of the New Cultural History into China,more and more Chinese historians are getting familiar with this contemporary Western historiographical movement,and trying to transplant its methods into Chinese historical writing.However,most of them hardly know that late Professor Tian Rukang（T＇ien Ju-K＇ang）,a prestigious historian of Fudan University,already pioneered on that in as early as 1988,when he published Male Anxiety and Female Chastity,the first New Cultural History monograph by a Chinese historian and on a Chinese historical theme.
