State-Building and Political Science

摘　　要：Closely related to social justice within the political science arena is the so-called science of government. Government includes not only societal management but also law and welfare provision. Recently, several conferences have been held on these topics at Fudan. Understandably, the scholarly community would like to start with a historical review of government; and it is from this history, especially with relation to the military, that we start our journey.
