摘　　要：大学的兴起是西欧12世纪社会环境的独特产物。大学的行会组织性质为大学的学术自由在制度上提供了保障,基督教对于客观物质世界与上帝真理的关系的认识鼓励了基督教世界知识分子们的自然科学研究,大学因此成为培养自然科学研究人才的基地,从而为中世纪科学的产生奠定了基础。The emerging of the university is the unique product of the 12th century Western European society. Its nature of the guild organiza- tion assured the academic freedom in institutional aspect. On the other hand, Christian understanding towards the objective material world and towards the relationship between the material world and God＇ s truth encouraged intellectuals in the Christian world to observe and study the laws of nature. Therefore, medieval universities turned into a basement for natural science research, and made preparations for the birth of modern science.
