摘　　要：玛丽.索恩是安东尼.特罗洛普小说《索恩医生》中自立、自尊、自强的女性形象的代表。索恩在从想象阶段自我人格的分裂到象征阶段努力建构自我理想的过程中,依靠自己的力量寻求自我,勇敢、坚强地突破情感困境,完成自己的人生蜕变。而对她寻求"自我"与完美蜕变历程的描写在一定程度上反映了特罗洛普独特的女性观。The character Mary Thome in Doctor Thorne by Anthony Trollope is the representative of female figures with the characteristics of independence, esteem and self-support. From her ego personality split in the imagination period to her devotion to the ego ideal in the symbolic period, she relies on her own power to seek for her ego, breaks bravely and strongly through the predicament in feeling, and finishes her transmutation in life. The presentation to the experience from her seeking for ego to the perfect transmutation is .somehow described identical to the Trollope ＇ s specific and unique view a- bout females.
