摘　　要：厄普代克的《兔子四部曲》是美国新现实主义社会风尚小说。它继承了社会风尚小说传统,又进行了内容与形式的创新。通过展示当代美国中产阶级宗教信仰、婚姻家庭伦理与性观念上的价值观变迁,塑造当代中产者失去自我、缺乏生活目标及软弱怯懦的典型形象,展现美国社会历史变化,拒绝道德说教,借鉴现代主义艺术手法,描绘直白的性场面,该小说实现了对经典社会风尚小说全面的革新与超越。John Updike＇ s Rabbit Tetralogy is a contemporary American neorealistic novel of manners. It has carried on as well as innovated the convention of the genre. Through presenting the change of values of American middle-class in respects of religious faith and marriage, family and sex ethics, portraying typical middle-class image characterized by loss of self, disillusionment, and weak-mindedness, depicting postwar American historical and social realities, and by refusal of didacticism, employment of modernist novelistic devices and stark description of sex, Rabbit-Tales have revolutionized the traditional novel of manners both in themes and styles.
