摘　　要：通过诸多名家之口,证实林纾是近代历史上译介西方文学成就最高的人;指出林纾相比翻译家的头街,他更愿意以古文家自居。史料证明,林纾创作古文非常认真,而翻译极其追求速度,其古文的功底给翻译带来了奇特的效果。认为,他最早发现西方文学的价值并引进西学,之后又与以西学否定传统文学的激进派展开论战,是一个总想当保守派的革新派。Lin Shu is proved to be the most famous translator of Western literature in China in the first two decades of the last century by quoting many famous scholars;but Lin Shu regarded himself as a classicist rather than a translator.According relevant historical data,Lin Shu was very meticulous while creating as a classist,and he cared more for speed while translating,but sometimes his genius as a classist made his translation very charming.It is also discovered that Lin Shu criticized severely the young radicals,who wanted to overthrow the classic Chinese tradition,although he was the first Chinese scholar who came to recognize the artistic value of the Western literature,and that he was a very innovative man,who claimed himself to be a conservative.
