摘　　要："鸠占鹊巢"的"鸠"究竟怎么解释,一直存在争论,有人认为是布谷,也有人认为是八哥。可《诗经》所指的"鸠"肯定只是一种鸟,不会是两种鸟。文章从历代的典籍和今天的自然科学的角度考察,认为"鸠"应是指布谷。How to interpret the ＂dove＂ in ＂Dove over the magpie＇s nest is subject to controversy.Some scholars hold that it is Cuckoo.Some hold that it is starling.The ＂dove＂ in the Book of Songs can refer to just one bird,and it can never refer to two.This article,by examining the classical works of the ages and from natural scientific point of view,determines that ＂dove＂ in ＂the dove over the magpie＇s nest＂ refers to cuckoo.
