摘　　要：英国人有着浓厚的"贵族情结"。自古及今,他们通过各种文学形式为这种情怀的形成、演变、延续提供着佐证。从古英语文学中的贝奥武夫到近现代作品中的人物达西、苔丝、安玑等,一个个栩栩如生的人物是贵族精神最全面、最深刻、最忠实的诠释。英国人对贵族和贵族精神的崇尚经历了从重出身到重内涵和素养的转变。深入研究英国文学中的贵族形象,对于了解英国人的"贵族情结"及其对英国人性格的影响和英国民族精神的形成,至关重要。The British have a kind of ＂nobility complex＂.Evidence of its formation,evolution,and extension can be found in a variety of literary forms from the ancient times to the present day.From Beowulf in Old English literature to Darcy,Tess,Angel in later literature,numerous vivid characters present the most comprehensive,profound,and faithful interpretation of what ＂noble＂ and ＂nobility＂ mean.There is a transition in the people＇s attitude toward the nobility from an emphasis on family background to the emphasis on personal traits and quality.The study of the ＂Noble Characters in British literature＂ is essential to the understanding of the British people＇s ＂nobility complex＂ and its impact on the British character.It will also throw light on the process of the formation of British national spirit.
