摘　　要：廖纪是明代的名臣,《明史》有传,但对其家世、生卒年、出生地及为官履历都记载不全。根据有关史料,他的迁琼始祖在南宋后期入琼,并入赘"土官"之家;二世祖移居海南岛万安军陵水县那亮村,其祖父因事被逮系京师,其父陪赴京师并落籍于直隶河间东光;廖纪于景泰六年出生于东光,弘治三年登进士第入仕,为官历孝宗、武宗、世宗三朝,卒于嘉靖十一年八月。在为官的36年中,他能坚持"守正",表现出廉洁、恪尽职守、不阿权贵的高贵品质。Liao Ji, a renowned minister in the Ming Dynasty, is recorded in A History of the Ming Dynasty, but the account of his family history, birth and death, place of birth and his official history is incomplete. As is re- vealed in some historical data, his earliest ancestor moved to Hainan in the late Southern Song Dynasty and married into the family of ＂a local official＂, while his second-generation ancestor migrated to Naliang Village of Lingshui County in Wan An Prefecture of Hainan Island. His grandfather was arrested and dispatched to the capital, and his father who accompanied the former to the capital settled down in Dongguang County of Hejian City in Zhili prov- ince. Liao Ji was born in Dongguang County in the 6th year during the reign of Emperor Jingtai. He became an offi- cial upon his success as a candidate in the highest imperial examination in the 3rd year during the reign of Emperor Hongzhi and held his official post throughout the reign of three emperors, and passed away in August of the 11 th year during the reign of Emperor Jiaqing. In the 36 years of his officialdom, Liao Ji was able to adhere to ＂jus-tice＂, thus exhibiting his noble quality of honesty, dedication to work and unwillingness to submit to authority.
