论白璧德人文主义的宗教观

摘　　要：白璧德主张把心理洞察作为出发点,提出了"更高意志"的学说以替代所谓的"上帝的恩典"以强调"内在工作"的重要性,试图建立涵摄世界各大宗教精神的"新的统一"以建立生活世界的信仰。在此,白璧德借鉴了东方的"道路"思想以缓和西方理性与信仰的紧张关系,使神圣不离世俗。白璧德在"上帝死了"的时代背景下重新给西方人根植一种新的信仰,用意不在宗教的"冥思",而在现实的"调和",以矫正西方现代转型、特别是美国现代转型过程中所出现的诸多文明问题。Babbitt puts forward the transcendent high will which emphasizes inner work instead of the grace of God.In rebuilding a new unity for a new faith in the secular life as an alternative to Christianity,Babbitt borrows the Oriental thought of Path which eases the tension between faith and reason in the West,in order to plant a new faith for the purpose of moderation of the humanistic plane instead of meditation of the religious plane.By this way Babbitt tries to make the outward-orienting Western Culture into inward transformation,with a view to remedying the problems of the American and Western crisis of faith in the periods of transformation.
