Objective To investigate the role and dynamic change of thrombopoietin (TPO) of the early serum pathogenesis in the burned patients. Methods26 burned patients with 49.84±24.84% TB- SA (range, 20-96%) were studied. Blood samples were collected in the morning of ld, 3d, 7d and 10d post-burn. The blood routine was measured by automatic machine, and serum TPO concentrations were detected by ELISA method according to reagent instruction. In addition, blood samples of 13 health adults were served as control group. Resultswhen compared with control group, the serum TPO of burned patients (〈50%TBSA) increased gradually (P〉0.05), but in the burned patients (〉50% TBSA) the TPO concentration significantly increased from 7d post-burn (P〈0.01). Compared to the control group, the platelet amount of 3d after burn decreased sharply (P〈0.01), but increased signif-icantly since 10d post-burn (P〈0.01) when thrombocytosis was found. According to person correla-tion analysis, the serum TPO level had a positive relative to the platelet amounts (r=0. 196, P〈0.05). Conclusion The burn severity but not the platelet count induces the change of serum TPO level, and the elevated TPO may contribute to thrombocytosis in burn patients.
