摘　　要：在凯特·肖邦的《觉醒》中,赖茨小姐总是被当理想女性形象的对立面。考诸19世纪美国社会中与女性相关的风俗习惯、道德观念和法律概念等文化语境,分析单身女人赖茨小姐之生存模式,无论从哪方面看,都是社会规范的遵循者而非叛逆者。Locating Mademoiselle Reisz in the cultural context in which she was produced,this essay examines the morals,legal concepts and social realities pertaining to women＇s life in the 19th century United States so as to see if her way of existence is within the limits of social norms or not.It argues that Mademoiselle Reisz,viewed in whatever perspective,is not a rebel against but a conformist to social norms.
