摘  要:The Bonesetter’s Daughter is a famous fiction written by a Chinese American writer Amt Tan.In this novel,it talks about the mental growth of Ruth,a second generation immigrant.In this thesis,the author tries to use Erik H.Erikson’s identity theory to analyze Ruth’s growth.According to Erik H.Erikson’s identity theory, human development has eight epigenetic stages.Each stage includes a conflict between two opposite forces.In this thesis,it is easyto find out the importance of environmental influence upon human growth and development.By her own effort and relatives’ support,Ruth finally rediscovers her self-identity.The Bonesetter's Daughter is a famous fiction written by a Chinese American writer Amt Tan.
