摘　　要：洋务运动是中国语文现代化的发端。洋务运动之前,中国语文教育老化,书面表达、应试文体、口语表达、语言观念、汉字形式老化。洋务运动时期,国门被迫打开,中国先进的知识分子开始了语文现代化的艰苦探索,主要有:创办第一所专门外语学校同文馆,培养双语人才;创办第一家翻译机构江南制造局翻译馆,介绍引进西方科学知识;派遣第一批幼童留洋,为国家储备人才;精深研究汉语,开创对外汉语教学先河;主办第一家中文报刊,传播西学思想。The Westernization Movement has commenced the modernization of the Chinese language. Before the movement, the Chinese language was rather old in all aspects, including the Chinese language education, written form, examination-oriented writing style, oral expression, language concepts, the Chinese character forms. During the period of Westernization Movement, China was forced to be opened to the outside world and the Chinese intellectuals with active minds began a hard exploration of the modernization of the Chinese lan- guage. They founded Tongwen Foreign Languages Academy--the first foreign language school, aiming at culti- vating bilingual talents;set up Translation Agency of Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau--the first translation a- gency in China, aiming to introducing advanced science and knowledge of western countries into china; sent the first group of children abroad to receive education to reserve talents for our country;made further research into Chinese language;be pioneer in the teaching of Chinese as a second language;hosted the first Chinese news- paper spreading western thoughts.
