摘　　要：现代化必然伴随着对农民的改造和变革，中国也不例外。但由于中国独特的历史发展轨迹，农民在现代化进程中处于两难境地。中国的现代化既要依靠农民，又要改造和变革农民。正是中国现代化进程中农民的两难处境，决定了中国解决农民问题的重要性、长期性和复杂性，也决定了中国现代化进程的艰巨性。As we see it, agriculture is the source of food and clothing for mankind,without agricultUre, people cannot exist, neither can social production proceed. This is a general law, China is no exception. China has such an enormous agriculturalpopulation, so China's modemization depends on farmers, while chinese farmers must be reformed into modernized citizens to follow modernization. It is the dual character of chinese farmers that gives top priority to agriculture.
