摘　　要：自1994年以来，北京公交总公司进入了一个快速发展的阶段，到2000年的6年时间内，运营车辆总数由7819辆增加到15445辆，增长97．53％。在经济快速发展的同时，北京的空气质量和环境状况日渐恶劣，大气污染物中专用运输车辆（包括公共汽车、出租车、环卫车）的污染排放分担率达到36％以上。In pace with rapid economic development, the environmental status and air quality in Beijing are getting worse gradually day by day, and the share in rate of pollution emission, from special purpose vehicles (including public buses, taxicabs and environmental sanitation trucks) among atmosphere contamination, has been arrived above 36%. Possessed with better emission property and consistency in manufacturing, the natural gas public buses are able to adapt to demands from the public transportation and operation in Beijing, as well as requirements in environmental protection, which have promoted effective utilization of resources. It is shown from practical application that, the Cummings natural gas engines have stable performance, reliable quality and well emission, and under the condition of without installation of catalyzed converters, the low emission standards of vehicles can be met in California, USA.
