To understand the effect of Tai Chi exercise on HRV among the elderly, this study tested HRV of 16 elderly long - term practice of Tai Chi. Concluded: Tai Chi is a mild exercise that is suitable for the elderly in the long run, because it helps to restore their heart rates and autonomic balance after long - term Tai Chi exercise. Long - term Tai Chi exercise has contributed to the heart' s getting younger among the elderly, which is reflected not only in the change of autonomic regulation before and after sport, but also in the quickly physical recovery. It is suggested that those who suffer from autonomic regulation disturbance should engage carefully in more than five - minute continuous moderate exercise for fear that some heart disease will occur. How to play Tai Chi to improve the regulation of the autonomic nervous control of the exercise in order to maximize the role is the focus of future research.
